Made primarily from Syrah grapes grown at La Presa Vineyards, this red port was produced using traditional methods of fortification and barrel aging. The wine was aged in neutral French Hogshead from early 2005 until bottling commenced in May, 2008. This fantastic red dessert wine from Kalyra in Santa Ynez Valley, California gives you one of the best dessert wines from one of the best Santa Ynez wineries. You will find all of the characteristics of previous Kalyra vintages: a touch of butterscotch, stone fruit, fig, raisin, and a long, soft chocolate finish. This red dessert wine is an excellent pairing with aged Stilton cheese and sliced apple or a chocolate and wine pairing - especially dark chocolate and a cigar. With 18% alcohol, this Syrah port dessert wine will continue to age gracefully for another 20 years, provided it is stored correctly (room temperature 55 degrees or less).
